Luck be a Baby Tonight

Hi and hello family and friends! Will and I have decided to start this photo blog to keep all of you wonderful people updated during this next few months (and beyond) as there are many a cities between us. As you may already know, Will and I moved out West to Colorado (Arvada to be exact) in October of 2008 looking for exciting change and the ability to start our lives together in a gorgeous state. Will and I both found jobs within a month - he at Independent Welding as a project engineer and estimator and me at Scooter's Coffeehouse as a barista. Since January I have been taking Nursing courses full time at Front Range and am absolutely loving it! Everything as been going smoothly, and all of our stars seemed to take notice and began to align, and in November we were blessed with the news that we were going to take on the absolute BIGGEST adventure of our lives - having a child! It's been a whirlwind of excitement and nerves but we know we're ready and so blessed to be able to take on this voyage! Baby Erwin was originally due August 20th...

We went in for our doctors appointment/ultrasound Monday, February 23rd believing I was about 14 1/2 weeks along, expecting to see a larger version of the little gummy bear we had witnessed at my 8 wk appointment. As the ultrasound tech began the screening we couldn't believe our eyes!

That baby was huuuuge! There was a face! And a spine! And a nose! We immediately became aware of how miraculous this really was.

I have labeled the pics a little bit so when you open them you can see what exactly is going on. Will noticed right away how active the baby was - moving arms, legs, twirling around! (Above you can see that the little one is about to use my uterus as a springboard to move around on the other side).

Annnnd the baby bum shot! This is when the technician noticed that the baby seemed a little big for our original due date. After measuring the femur, she calculated the due date at August 12th, 2009, putting me at 16 weeks.

Here's little Baby Erwin tucked into fetal position, just chillin. Then the technician asked us if we wanted to know the babies sex. 'UH WHAT?!' Will and I didn't expect to find out until our 20 week appointment! Not for another month! So of course I squealed a 'YES' and she showed us the moneymaker view:

IT'S A BOY!!!! Will and I were just ecstatic! I, of course, bawled my eyes out, and Will, himself, teared up a bit. We then watched in amazement at the moving figure on the screen that, in just SECONDS, went from the active little fetus to our first son! Words can not express how excited and happy we are to be expecting a little boy. His heartbeat is normal, and he sure as heck knows how to move around (although I can't say that I've felt any movement just yet)!

We will be sure to keep this updated with new pictures and stories as they come. Hope everyone is doing well!

Love from Colorado
